Terms of service

These are the terms for using the Selects app for iPhone. Selects is a photo‑curation app: it groups your near‑identical photos into photoshoots, pre‑picks the best ones, and lets you clear the rest. It is developed by Václav Trnka (the “developer”, “I”), based in the Czech Republic.

The license

Downloading Selects from the App Store licenses it to you; it does not sell it to you. Because no custom agreement is supplied, the license is Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement, the standard terms that apply to App Store apps by default. For a third‑party app like this one, that agreement is between you and the developer rather than between you and Apple, and it carries the usage restrictions, the “as is” disclaimer, and the limit on liability.

This page does not replace it. It explains the parts that are specific to Selects.

What it costs

Selects is free. No sign‑up, no subscription, no ads, no locked features, and no trial that turns into a bill.

There is one in‑app purchase: an optional tip. It unlocks nothing, because there is nothing to unlock. Apple processes the payment, so the developer never sees your name, card, or payment details. If you want a refund for a tip, ask Apple rather than me, at reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple handles refunds and I have no way to issue one.

What the app does, and who decides

Selects reads your photo library and suggests which shots are worth keeping and which can go. It suggests. You decide. Nothing is removed without your confirmation, and removal is handed to iOS’s own delete, so photos go to your Recently Deleted album and stay recoverable for 30 days.

It will sometimes be wrong

This is the honest part. Selects makes judgments about which photos are worth keeping, and judgments can be wrong. It may suggest clearing a shot you wanted, or keep one you had no use for. That is why nothing happens without your confirmation, and why everything goes through Recently Deleted.

Your photo library is yours to look after. Keeping a backup is sensible whatever app you use, and it is sensible here too. Selects is provided as it is, without a promise that every suggestion will suit you.

What you need to run it

Selects requires iOS 26 or later.

There is no account

Selects has no sign‑up and no user accounts, so there is nothing here to suspend, terminate, or lock you out of. If you stop wanting the app, delete it. That is the whole process.

Privacy

How Selects handles your data is covered in the privacy policy, which is the page to read for that. The short version is that your photos are analyzed on your device and never leave it.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the updated version will be posted here with a new date at the top.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the law of the Czech Republic, where the developer is based. If you are a consumer in the EU, nothing here affects the statutory rights you have where you live.
